This is my first rocking horse design, sometimes known as Oscar. Found a photo in a magazine from some years ago, before the internet, by the way, and kept it in a “to do one day” file.

Designed two versions of this rocking horse, the first one height to seat is about 500mm, or almost 20 inches and another smaller version with a seat height of 350mm or almost 14 inches.

Free plans are available on the download rocking horse page.

This project was designed to use project timber which is available from hardware stores and building suppliers.

Can be made by a beginner with a jigsaw and a router.

Also have a look on this woodworking gallery page for examples made by others.

Welcome to Lumberjocks from Kalbarri W.A.

Great looking Horse, congratulations on a wonderful job.
Thank you for sharing.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Thanks Bill. The mane is made from variegated wool, and it make my wife very happy, because it was our joint project and she helped me to paint it, and she chose the colour scheme.

Looks great and kudos to the Mrs for the color scheme. Classic toys never go out of style.
Well done.
