Paduak with ebony pulls. What did I learn doing my first bandsaw box? My bandsaw needed some serious tuning up!

This morning I received a newsletter from Fine Wood Working that had on its cover page a picture of an incredibly inspired box made by a viola maker. In many conceptual ways, this piece is very similar, not in appearance but in concept. Wonderfully unique design and definitely “Out Of The Box”.

Cheers
:)

That is a great box. I really like that one can see the sides of the drawers while the tops are still concealed by case when closed. Great design and wood choice.

Well done on completing your first bandsawn box.

I always say that the design and making of a bandsaw box is great fun! They can also be very rewarding, it is nice to receive accolades for your work, particular for original design.

I look forward to seeing more of your work here,

Tony Ward

Tons of orange dust and lots of little paduak cutoffs that are waiting for a project to come along. I’d love to take credit for the design, but I got it right out of “Building Beautiful Boxes with Your Bandsaw” by Lois Ventura. Great book if you are interested in this craft, and there are tons of her designs with plans you can copy. This one was called Boa.

This is a great looking box. Nice choice of wood as well.

Beautiful box. Love the colors. Are those natural or did you make them?

I found a pattern like this last week and have been contemplating making one. Looks great.
