About two years ago I built this little skiff to retrieve my RC Tiger Moth plane if it went down in the pond in our back yard.
It’s the first time I built a boat and it wasn’t all that difficult. There’s a sheet of styrofoam under the flag to keep her floating if you were to get into trouble. So far it hasn’t been needed.
PS.
The link I used (Herbs web site) to get my plan is no longer available so skip that one. I found another one here.
Go here and click on the “One sheet Skiff” link on the page. Also you will fnd a “build link” at the bottom of his page. You’ll see a page of picture of his build there.

Nice boat, like the flag touch. I have a friend here teaching me how to make a sea kyak in exchange for wood turning lessons.

Seems like a big undertaking just to rescue the plane….are you sure you don’t work for the coast guard? By the way it turned out pretty nice.

That is really cool! I really liked your center piece/floatation devise. I will have to try this when my kids get alittle older, oh and my skills get better.
Outstanding

When your model plane cost you $400 you best find a way to retrieve it when and if it don’t make it home! I would swim to get it but it’s retention pond! No Swimming allowed! Anyway.. it was fun to build. The kid’s enjoy it durring the summer months.
Thanks for all the compliments !

Cool! Way classier than the 2 man inflatable raft I use to go get my RC boat when it flips or dies on the back side of the lake. I love wood boats…used to dream of building one when I was a kid looking at old issues of popular mechanics from the 50’s and 60’s.

Jon ,
You should give this plan a try. The Skiff is easy to build. Click on the link in the description and find the plan. It was fun to build.
Thanks for all the nice compliments everyone!
