Project Information

I picked up a used lathe from craigslist. I needed a bench and my dad was coming to visit for a few days, so I left it for him to do as a project while I was working during the day. It is made from 2×6 pine and 1/2" Plywood. The plans for the stand came from reading various books, at all the projects posted on this site and trying to adapt them to my space. My dad also made the chisel rack, that idea came from American Woodworker - March 2008 Dick West. It works out great for me when he visits and needs something to keep him busy. :)

Good idea mounting the grinder on the bench too. You don't want to be too far from it.

Practicing using it, the fun part. I have a lathe very similar to yours, a Montgomery Ward ($25 through a friend at work) and I haven't done a lot with yet, but what I have done, is fun learning. So nice to have around. Very nice set up, tell dad, well done.
