Wooden Malet

This is a tribute to my buds Kiefer and Mads.
Always wanted to make one of these and finally got the time.
Oak, maple and cherry were used. Rope work is Spectra, stronger than hell from old used racing sails.
I like to undercut the faces of the malet more than others because I tend to sit. The mallet has two angles, one for standing and one for sitting.

By the way my name is Thomas, my Danish nickname is Mads and my Swedish nickname Madts.
Life is not easy.

Mads, Thomas, Madts, you did a fine job. Interesting with the rope idea. I always wanted to try that to see if I get a better grip.

Looks good, works great I bet! I need to build another one, something really tough for my hold downs the leather face on my other one is getting abused! Might have to give the wrap a try, maybe a leather lace?

I did no research on the origin of that double shaft, but hell, I love it when someone redefines a traditional tool in a way that makes sense and adds a line that excites me. Well done.

Hi Madts,
Wonderful mallet you made, love the idea of different cuts, more versatile.
That grip does look just perfect to hold.
Just like clamps; we can never have too many mallets, heavy, light, dead blow, hard, soft and so on, I even have one you made for me here, love to use that one for planes, thanks.
Best thoughts,

By the way Stefang, have you driven the Atlantic Road up by Kristiansund? That is on my bucket list.
