Maloof Rockers with a twist.

Over the past year I have built like 20 some Maloof rockers but these two are a bit different. They are both originally dining chairs but I altered them a bit and fashioned on some rockers. The chairs are made primarily from tiger maple (the lowback is all tiger maple and the other has walnut accents). I messed with some filters on the first picture to try and show the amazing figure in the wood. I put the flat/ sloped arms (traditional maloof arms) on the higher chair and the regular sloped arms on the lowback. I know everyone has seen about 4000 Maloof rockers in their lifetime so I thought it would do ya some good to see an altered version of Sam’s iconic piece.

P.S. Don’t mind the jungle I refer to as my front yard.

Sweet! Nice work Zac, beautiful set of chairs. Great grain pattern in that tiger maple.

Great job, nice to see a new adaptation on a classic. Great choice of woods also, and they look right at home on that prairie.

My mother is from Kansas, nothing jungle-like about it – just finished cutting my yard for the second time in a week and can hear it growing already with our spring rains here in Ohio. :) Happy Memorial Day!

Well at least with that flat horizon the cattle don’t have anyplace to hide. In my mom’s hometown (Hoisington) they said if you stood on the porch you could see the next county and if you stood on the roof you could see the next country. :)
