My son recently splurged on a nice set of headphones so i thought this would be a nice way to keep them safely stored. I test fit the stand with my headphones here.
It’s a 2×6 block of milled oak cut to 8” long with a dado and matte black liquid latex paint and a wax rub finish. The 8” wide x 11” high x 3/4” cast clear acrylic is laser cut and it fits 1” deep into the dado. A black double sided tape or a clear adhesive silicone can be used if your worried about the wood expanding and the acrylic being pulled out. If you use silicone remember to use very little and stay an inch away from the ends. I did have to shave a bit from the dado the next day to fit. With the acrylic sold as 19mm it was helpful to creep up on the overall width of the dado with test cuts.
I also made one from a black walnut with a danish oil and it turned out very nice
