A woodworking friend offered to teach an ‘Intro to Turning’ class to a (non woodworking) club we both belong to. I took him up on the offer, and yesterday turned this basic mallet. Man, turning is fun.

Good job…. Watch out it’s a slippery slope! I find turning to be both satisfying and a little addictive…. :)

Turning is a BLAST, it was my gateway into working with wood in a serious way.
Please, get a lexan face shield though, it’s a good thing.

Yes, I used a full face shield. The mallet is made from rock maple.
