Veneer Coin Box

I made this box a few years ago for my nephew to keep his coin collection in. It was a cheap premade box from the craft store that I made a sort of panel for. Then glued the faces on and trimmed to the box. I had done a box with veneer fans (second picture shows panel) that I learned from a book. The book showed to use sand to burn the edges for shading. I tried it on the eagle parts with little success. :) Oh well, it was fun, and I can’t learn if I don’t try.

Also, the latch is on upside down….. ~after~ I bought it, I found out that there wasn’t enough room on the lid for it to fit. Ooops. :)

A great looking box. I hope you didn’t ruin the book by using up all it’s veneer.
