kitchen island

Project by kansas posted 242 days ago 557 views 1 time favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Here’s my new kitchen island. Made from red oak if anyone couldn’t tell. It is made of 4 separate cabinets and the base is one separate piece as well. I ran power into the base and on one side where I had room. I even made the countertop myself—first time for that. That was the easiest part but I did sweat a little during the parts involving the laminate is it was an $86 piece. Two coats minwax cherry and then minwax poly finish it off. I think it turned out ok but post is bugging me, something isn’t quite proportional or something.

It looks great, Very good build kansas.
The post dosent show the toe kick, That is the only thing that looks a little out of proportion to me.

Nice work. If you did want to do away with the post but still feel you need the support, you could always get a corbel or make a curved support. I like red oak…

You did a very nice job on this piece. Looks good to me. The more laminate work you do the easier it gets. Thanks for posting.

God Bless
