I have no idea what kind of wood this is
I found an old rotting log while at work one day
and I brought it home and I found this beautiful
wood on the inside.

Awesome box. I love the grain, as well as the design.

Nice box, at first glance I think it looks like spalted pecan as I work with it alot, the stripe of pink heartwood with the spalted sapwood looks like pecan. You did a nice job…

Some fantastic wood find. Having a story is better than saying I bought the wood at the local “BIG BOX” store. Great find and use.

jack, I am building a box that looks quite similar in design to yours out of “beetle trailed’ ash. Im trying to avoid being a knockoff artist by asking if you mind if I post it when its complete.?..

I like all 3 boxes, but the first box with the diamonds I like the best.
Looking at all the comments it seems they only notice 1 box, hmmm

Nicely done….I really like the “distressed” wood. Ive seen lots of folks try to emulate that look without much success….it really takes time and natural forces to do this…and is very hard to artificially create.

Great find…thanks for sharing it with us…

I will certainly look harder at any old logs I see now…
