I built the mirror about 2 years ago and the box at the same time (but didn’t finish it until about 14 months ago). I built the mirror in a woodworking class I took. My first attempt a doweling a joint (went really bad)... fortunately I had a back-up plan… biscuits. Both are made of alder with a dark cherry stain and 3 coats of poly.
This was built as a compromise between me and the SMBO who likes to allow all the shoes from her closet to migrate to the front door. Rather than me taking 12 pairs of shoes upstairs twice a week, they get tossed in the box.
The mirror is my own design and the box was made from a Wood Magazine blanket chest plan.
