Chicken coop / garden shed

Project by BTKS posted 240 days ago 920 views 0 times favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is not what one would call a fine woodworking project. It is a dual purpose chicken coop / garden shed. We have recently acquired several chicks and they need a new home. This should accomodate them and give the girls a place to work with them. It is 8 X 12 feet and 8 feet at the eve. I’ll add the window outserts when the shed is place and leveled, didn’t want to break them in transit. It was a fun project. I had left over tin parts and roof insulation from another project so the roof extras were on the cheap. Even wired it for lights and plugs if we want to brood later hatches.

I would have posted this to Homerefurbers but the questions received to lead to this post came from here. Hope no one minds looking at old shed. Thanks for looking.

Looks very good, now if you can only train the chickens to put the tools away.

this looks great…the last part of my backyard makeover will be a shed…this summer…this looks great…

WHAT will you use as the base—-will the runners sit on the ground? or will you do something else…

a1Jim, Workin on it, they should be easier to train than the girls.
Napaman, It will sit on nine paver piers. It’s going in a slightly out of level spot. Highest ground at the doors. Will remove sod, compact for each pier and stack 12in by 12in pavers to level. The house is built on three 4×6 skids on edge. Braced between the skids to prevent tipping during movement.
Thanks for looking, later
