I call it Mutt because it’s made of a bunch of left over pieces. I just have a hard time throwing anything bigger than sawdust away. Top and bottom are walnut, sides are hickory, tray is ambrosia maple, dowels are walnut and the lid lifts are a piece of left over banksia pod. About 12×6x6 if memory serves. Danish oil finish. Gift for my sister. I really need a better camera.

Great box! Gives me some ideas to try. I like the split top, and the divided handle. Creative!

You made that collection of woods work very well together.

I really like this box. The top and lift tab being split in half make it quite unique. IMHO

” I just have a hard time throwing anything bigger than sawdust away.”
Love it! AND subscribe to that philosophy(it is a philosophy and not a problem), much to my hubby’s dismay!
Really like the split top on this. What did you use for the hinges? Are the dowels structural or concealing fasteners? What finish? Details Please! Nothing wrong, that I can see, with your camera that being mindful of your background and lighting won’t fix. Maybe use of a light tent would benefit.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all.

Candy, brass rod for the hinges. Dowels are concealing screws. Danish oil finish.

I’m speechless. This piece de-speechifies me.
I often find myself looking for something other than a trash can in which to put even sawdust/shavings. (Shavings, especially, are a nice addition in photographs.)
