I built this oak hall tree a few months back for a client. At first I was worried about the size. On paper it seemed so small, but after building it I now think most of them are too big. Casework is veneered mdf, seat 5/4 oak and the back is solid 3/4” beadboard I made. Individual 2 ” wide pieces with rabbets on opposing edges and full beads on the others. On an interesting side note this piece contains the most expensive piece of 3 1/4” red oak crown moulding in existence, I stopped at the hardwood store in the car rather than the truck and bought an 8’ stick…or so I thought when I put it between the seats and on the dash then closed the hatch it shattered the windshield!
