This is a Wine Barrel Table I made for a friend. It is made from solid oak. When I found the wood it had been sitting under a couple pieces of metal roofing in SW Washington at a friends saw mill. I was told it had sat for over 15 years… After a lot of sorting, and a couple days of milling, I came up with some beautiful wood. Each board has a chamfered edge, and the inside circle is beveled to approximately 7 deg. to match the barrel sides. The outside round-over is a 1/16” made with an artisan hand plane I got from FastCap (I love that plane!)
I used a Cabot Walnut stain mix and then applied a conversion varnish from Sherwin Williams.

Very nice! I can imagine a nice, candlelit dinner with a glass of Oregon pinot noir!
