I documented the build process on my YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/DHdxMeE92j8
I had my European mounts on some cheesy wood stands that were hanging on the wall. I wanted to up the ante a bit and build them the stands they deserved.
I build them out of red oak. The oval plate was connected to the angled arm with 2 #8 wood screws. The Skull plate was connected to the angled arm using two 3/8” dowels.
I applied a decorative edge using the router table. A hand held router could have been used as well.
I used 2 coats of medium walnut danish oil by watco for the finish.
The animal is a mule deer that was shot in Western North Dakota, weapon used was a 25-06.
If you have any questions, please post them here or on YouTube. Thank you for viewing.
