WOW!!! That is huge. I see a lot of cool toys there too. If only my wife had agreed to buy the house with the big barn… I can’t even come close to standing a sheet of 4×8 plywood on end in my basement workshop so I’m a little bit jealous but at least my bandsaw fits below the joists so I guess it’s good enough. Nice shop and nice layout (and I don’t need a ladder to get to my jigs).

Thanks guys now to answer some specifics adventurer No, Romain I try, woodworm get real I’m a senior,
dick and barb, that’s what I tell my wife, Lew no problem just bring lots of elbow grease and a sleeping bag, mtnwld, it works for me, donbee I have a pole with a forked end that I can get patterns down ,but I still have to use the ladder, Gary thanks for the leaf blower trick ,can you use it to speed up drying time on finishes? Thanks to all for your interest and comments. It’s not always the size of the shop or how many tools it’s the nut behind the wheel or saw.

I use the leaf blower all the time. Turn on the vent fans and add a couple of portable fans at strategic locations, suit up with mask and goggles and go for it.

Nice shop. I know what you mean about not enough space for photos. Is that an 8” jointer? I’d like to upgrade my 6” but that’s like having two footitis with boats, next I’ll want a 10”... lol

Thanks Lou yes it’s taking 20 plus years of trading up when I could .
Thanks Jon It’s not always how big or tall your shop is or how many tools you have but the motivation to make your project . Some of the folks that have very modest shops make the most impressive woodworking pieces.

Hi again Meilie
Both you and Lew do some very nice projects so if I could adopt you both I’m sure I could learn some cool woodworking tricks. My wonderful wife and best friend of 42 plus years might not want another cook aboard plus I’m already a little to thick around the middle. The head on my 12” joiner is a spiral head. It works well. I see were they are coming out with a 13” spiral head planner in the $600 range . My 20” planner has it already has a spiral head that helps a lot with the tear out problem on highly figured wood. Have a great day and my the grain be with you.

Jim,
After you mentioned something about my shop I thought I would look over your profile a bit and I came across your shop pictures. This is impressive, I don’t know what I would do with that much room. I have come to really enjoy the ‘tightness’ of my shop though, I do dream of a shop with natural light like yours. There is something clean and inspiring about sunshine mixed with creativity and the din of power tools. The Powermatic saw is a dream of mine as well, someday. I do appreciate your comments Jim and I look forward to seeing more work from you!

Nice shop Jim. I have a friend named Vance who I derive much inspiration from. When I first hung out with him, he had an immense shop in the basement. He would have duplicates of many tools and I would rib him whenever he loaned one to me that was in an unopened package. He would use everything eventually, but it was a running joke. He was single and had a four bedroom house and a full basement for his stuff. Now he is married and he has much less space than I do now. Obviously he gets teased about that as well.
