Tsunami is a design I copied from Lois Ventura’s book on Building Bandsaw Boxes.
The timber I used was Purple Heart, which I beleive is very common in the states but is rarely seen here in Oz and it is mainly used for flooring..again go figure.

Very nice. Purple heart is certainly available here in the states, but not exactly common. It’s not something you can just pick up at your friendly neighborhood lumber yard.

Larry, this is a really nice box both with respect to its design and the purpleheart wood.

What type of finish did you put on it?

Nice box will try to make one one of this days, if I get the nerve for doing something like that
the wood is available here in iquitos(peruvian jungle)
check them out ,jim king owns the place and he is my supplier of exotics woods,he has a depo in the states too with wood you can get readily,
