Toy Box for “Alec” –

Built from a White Oak tree his Great Grandfather cut and milled in the mid-80’s from “Cedar Creek” in Yamhill County, Oregon. Built with traditional M & T throughout, panels are ½”. Built in a little “secret box” cause every kid needs a secret little hiding space – (waiting for antique lock and hasp from Vandyke’s next week). Built to last for many generations – weighs a ton! No fasteners except for to allow glue to dry and aesthetics. Finished with a poly gloss, (Lid doesn’t seal tight to allow air just in case). Schroeder

Instant heirloom piece. Nice joinery and finish. Love the ‘secret box’ as well.
Did you use torsion hinges? Just did on a piece here. Didn’t want crushed fingers.
Thanks for sharing.

His great-grandchildren will be fighting over who gets that. Nice piece.
