This is a bowl that I turned for a mothers day gift. Its made from maple and bocote. Bocote is a miserable wood, the resin gummed up my bandsaw blade, gummed up my drum sander and gummed up my bowl gouges. I probably wont buy this wood again. I finished it with clear shellac and paste wax.

I’ve only used a small piece of bocote before when making a knife. Beautiful wood, but very hard. Didn’t realize the resin problem, I’ll have to treat it carefully in the future (I have a small figured piece I’ve been saving). Is this a bowl from a board?
