I documented this build on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/MBMcwHkRNCY
Watches should be displayed, not stored. I have 4 watches so far in my relatively short life and needed a solution to get them off of the pegs on my closet wall. I made this watch box out of cherry
I used a dovetail style drawer lock joint to construct the display case. I turned the little knob on my mini lathe and purchased some antique finish hinges.
As every project teaches you something, this project was no different. I learned a few things for the next one I will build. The hinges I purchased were typical quality you would expect from a standard hinge. The watch box that was build was worth of much higher quality. Next time, I will go with Brusso hinges.
If you watch the video, I do not have a stopping mechanism for the lid. A chain or even a small nice looking stop on the back would suffice. But this problem can be solved with upgraded hinges as well.
