Bandsaw Boxes

Project by bamasawduster posted 254 days ago 547 views 2 times favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Here are a couple of Bandsaw Boxes. The first is made from an old antique rolling pin. I had found one in an antique store and decided to try it. I want to do another some day to utilize lessons learned from this one. The drawers are really hard to get right on the rounded pin. Note that I did not succeed on this one, hence I want to do another. The drawer handles were carved from a dowel and stained to match the cedar in the rolling pin. Another advantage of making a bandsaw box from the rolling pin is this; by hollowing out all rolling pins that are laying around the house, they are somewhat lighter and don’t hurt as much. :-)

The second box is popular from the firewood pile. It had already been split. I left the weathering on the top to give it a little character.

Well done, unique I’ve never thought to use a rolling pin, good work. I think you’ve handled the rounded surface very well, I don’t think it could be done any better!

An original idea, that’s great, keep on. I look forward to seeing your next work!

Ok, I know you said that the drawers were not right, but I could not see it, not even in the close-up. That is a really unique design, and it looks great. I wish I could get my Shopsmith bandsaw tuned up well enough to get something like this to work.

Keep up the great work, and keep on posting the pictures.

Thanks, Rob. I really liked your hardware cabinet. Hope you wouldn’t mind if I copied your design. I like the fact that you can have sooo much hardware organized in such a small, on the wall, place, and close it up out of the way. Just gotta have one.
