Another hollow form inspired by Hubble Telescope images. This piece is turned from end grain maple. It measures 4.75 inches by 4.75 inches. It is finished with aniline dyes and spray lacquer.
All comments, especially critiques, are welcomed and appreciated.

Love the connection with the Hubble Telescope. Definitely reminiscent of some of those images. The knot is a great contrasting element.

Very cool Joe…or should I say…very “hot”. A real celestial body…kind of looks like a solar flare could jump off the surface at any moment. Great work as usual.
Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I appreciate all of them.
Mike, the finish was not sprayed while it is spinning. I typically do my finishing on a turn style.

I love the colors. I am suprised that you didn’t name it Jupiter, the knot in the lower section looks very much like the storm you see on Jupiter’s surface.
