Bambi,

You have posted a nice teaser there!

So what is it and how did you make it, (I know you new lathe had some input) and what sort of lathe have you got,

More pictures, more construction details and more on the story please!

A one liner made of beech and ash, finished with mineral oil is not really considered a story!!

My engrish is OK my Croatian is non existant!!

Looking good keep up the great work!

Looks like you got a good start at a “Clews Style Winged Box”. Just need to refine it a bit more. For a first project on a new lathe, you did just fine. Although you did pick a rather difficult subject. They can be real knuckle busters. I know as I have done some of them.

Odlično odrađeno! Vidim da uživaš u novoj igrački. To je moja neostvarena želja još – samo mi još to fali u kolekciji.

A definite challenge to make. Good work.
Tell us, did you make this from a rectangular piece of wood or did you saw off the sides after turning it a round piece. From the picture it looks like is was cut after turning but it may be glare on the photograph.

Very lovely piece.

I still have half of my first piece. I tried turning a small box. I had finished the lid and was working on the bottom. It came loose and shot across the workshop. I never found it. But, still have the lid.

-- While teaching a class, a gentlemen once asked me: "When chip carving an intricate design, what do you do when you are almost finished and the wood breaks off?" I replied "Cover the kids ears."
