First Framing Attempt

This was my first attempt at making a few picture frames.

My very first frame (the one with the photo in it) is Peruvian Walnut with a curly Maple inlay. It has some flaws, but I like it and learned a lot from it and it’s now displayed proudly on our living room wall.

The other two are Mother’s Day gifts for my mother and my mother-in-law. The first is Walnut with a curly Maple inlay and the other is Oak with a Peruvian Walnut inlay.

The Oak was local from a tree that fell over on my uncle’s farm. (That’s just the coolest thing to me.)

I had a lot of fun with these and learned quite a bit.

Very nice frames. I haven’t made any yet, but yours are outstanding. I’m assuming the types of wood used in this one are curly maple and cherry?

Ha. I just looked at the description underneath the picture where you told what types of wood you used!

Nice frames, getting the 45’s right is half the battle. Nice job!

Funny how making the perfect miters can be so challenging. Well done. I just made a new 45* miter sled that has made it so much easier. Enjoy.

I agree the wood you get from your own tree is something special! Nice work!

The walnut and maple frame is amazing. I don’t care what picture you put in it, all my eye is drawn to is the frame.

Have your say...
