hi everybody, i know this isn’t a wood project but i figured what the hay.this project was just completed 20ish days ago. it is 40X20 and 2 inches deep. i it is 1/4 inch thick (that’s pretty thick for a pot rack) and i had it powder coated. it is now being bumped by every tall person who has gone through our house…and that’s allot of people. i think i didn’t do as well as i could have, but i am pleased with its performance. i made the hooks at the school shop. it was easy i just made a bending form out of REALLY thick metal and attached it to a vice, i took the pieces of metal for the hook and put it in the form applied some heat with a cutting torch and bent it with some pliers. the form is just a 1 inch thick plate with a couple holes drilled to fit some round stock. those hole have to be positioned on the key corners. i actually had to make three different practice bending forms to get it just right. then i used some gas welding sticks and figured out exactly how i was going to bend it. that was a very important step. and the corners are reinforced with angle iron.
here is one of the hooks, i made near 20 of those things.

nice rack! – sorry had to say it…
The rack seems absolutely bulletproof! The chain is a bit distracting, maybe aircraft wire would be a bit lighter?
Nice project, I want one.
