As a favor to my father in law he asked me to take a piece of a tree he had cut down in his yard and make his house number on it. It was already a slab about 4” thick . So I loaded it up and off to the shop! About 4hours of 50 grit sanding I finally had all of the chain saw marks out. Now how do I stand this monster up and make it safe? First I found two half inch solid steel pins about 20”s long . decided what was to be up and down. Drilled into the bottom side 2/3s the length of the pin. Drove the pins in. Cut a 1/2” piece of black pipe in half to set the pins into. Routed in some numbers and filled them with glue, sawdust and walnut stain a little more sanding to clean up the numbers and then clear coated and delivery back to where it came from. A very satisfied client.
