This vessel was out of a nicely figured cherry blank. The finial is African Blackwood and Tulipwood. Took first place in a juried art show in the 3-d category. Another artist snatched it up after the judging for her collection (or a gift, I can’t remember). Very humbled by and appreciative of the response!

By the way, you should have seen this one in the sunlight! Awesome grain-depth.

I’m still at the point with my turning of practicing spindle shapes and learning what the tools do and haven’t tried any hollow forms yet but I can still appreciate a great one when I see it. Pieces like this are the reason I want to do it in the first place and the wood choice and finish just really makes this thing stand out. Thanks for you (and trifern and a few others) for giving me something to strive for.
