Fluted Column Base Fluted Column Base Fluted Column Base Click the pictures to enlarge them

I removed a halfwall that was in our living room, which left me with a Fluted Column just hanging in the air. The other Fluted Column in the room has a very interesting and detailed little base.

Here is a photo of the existing Base:

Here is the new Base parts next to the Fluted Column - look at the book-matched panel of Quarter Sawn White Oak. Notice the floor patching where the half-wall used to be. We will sand and refinish the floor once we have stripped all of the Quarter Sawn White Oak trim in the room - a huge job!

Here is the Base setting in place, I still need to make the base molding.

I will post another project when it is finished - it may be a while though!

My wife and I are planning on finding a house to restore once my youngest has graduated college next year. We are going to search out gems in the rough (very rough) to live in and restore….we hope to do a house every 3-4 years. Beautiful work….keep em coming. I look forward to seeing the progression.
