This is a piece to a totem pole that was part of the YMCA’s Indian guides. This is also the first woodworking project (that I can recall). My dad and I did this together. The white feather was my “given name” in my tribe. The arrow was my dad’s he was known as “Tall Arrow” as he stood 6’6” tall. The fish was what we liked to do. and the bird like carving was our tribe. Don’t remember the name of our tribe. This was made in 1975 when I was eight years old. I still to this day remember doing this. I did some of the carving. This was a special time for my dad and I. It looks to be made of red cedar. It looks the same as it did 34 years ago.

An family heirloom for sure. I think it’s neat that you made it with your Dad.
