Osage man got to show one of his big fish so I thought what the hey. Also I saw this in an article as an easy way to break down plywood if you don’t have much room. This contraption hangs from your rafters and you just use a rope and pulley system to lower it, then pull it back up out of the way. Almost like having a panel saw.

Nice find, on both accounts. I’m guessing one of those things was good eating.

I caught that Laker out of Higgins Lake Michigan. It’s pretty big for an inland lake. 23 1/2 lbs. Caught him in 110 ft of water and thought I had the bottom. Like pulling up a log. Naw Charlie, this one got stuffed.

Dandy fish, Mike. I’m no fisherman but I’d be proud of that one.

Mike
Guessing from your attire, you did not catch that hefty Mackinaw this week.
Big ol good un/good ol big un!!!
I have pined for a panel saw for years. A set-up similar to the one you found, just might work in my case.
Thanks for sharing both!

Thanks Jim, that was a while ago but it really was a nice catch and I shared it with my brother. ‘We were on the old Fred Trost Show with it we made the record books for inland lake trouts for size and weight that year. I guess it was more than 4 years ago. I know I’ve had my new Sylvan for 6 years.

Now you’re making my fish look tiny! ;-)
I like the panel saw idea, too. Not enough room left in my shop to swing it down, but maybe it will work in the garage. That’s where I cut most of the 4’ x 8’ anyway. Thanks for posting it.

Rick, it might be a while, I have to heal up from my cancer surgery coming up on the 25th. The Dr. said it would be 7-10 weeks. Most of it on my back. So, maybe sometime late summer when the salmon are running. Muskegon’s a 2hr drive from my house. It’s dang good fishing there in late summer, early fall. Thanks Doug. it was fun. Normally there would be a hundred boats on the lake, that day we were the only ones. Not a soul to brag to.

Mike good luck with the surgery and God’s speed through the healing process. I hope the lay off will allow you to spend more time here on LJ’s.
Your post makes me wonder if we could have a thread or special forum regarding the other hobbies/interests of all the Lumberjocks….like fishing, classic cars, sports, pets, kids, etc
I have enjoyed getting to know you all through your posts and would also enjoy knowing you better in your life outside the workshop.
Ideas?

NOW, THAT’S WHAT I CALL A FISH. NICE FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A 10 LB bass is about as big as they get in my little lake. I’m moving back to the Northwest, soon, and we catch them like that up there… Thanks for sharing, John

NICE FISH!!! The biggest fish I have ever caught were about some mackerel when I was a kid fishing with my dad off the coast of CA…and assorted trout over the years…but THAT IS A FISH…
And the article looks good too…I need one of those…my space is limited…and I like the idea of putting it on the wall or up in the rafters…
