A special keepsake box for a relative. The box is 1/2 ” cherry, assembled with dovetails (using a new Leigh jig). The inlays are purplehart dots and curly maple dots with dyed black stringing for the rectangle. The finish is semi-gloss lacquer. All in all it was a fun project to try out and set up a new dovetail jig.

Great job, a real beauty! Love the attention to the grain orientation.

DG, this is very well done. There is a good deal of fine craftsmanship involved. The dovetails are neat, the inlay is very tasteful, the colors are well chosen, the geometric design is effective without being too busy. The hardware doesn’t add a lot in my view, but it may be just how it appears in the photographs. I like the grain in the cherry…beautiful wood. This is some work you can justifiably be proud of. Keep boxing and keep posting.
