Yet another gift that was given to a great chief. pretty self explanitory, I glued up the two boards to highlight the cathedral figuring while at the same time hide the seam with the handle of the axe. I blind mounted the axe by insetting threaded inserts into the handle (which definetly made me nervous) and screwing through the back of the plaque. I used mahogany colored grain filler from mohawk to fill the grain and then finished with multiple coats of waterlox original finish. In retrospect, I should have just used bar top finish to get the kind of build you are seeing. However, I just couldnt bring myself to do that to such a fine piece of bubinga!! enjoy!!

beautiful slab of wood…

finish really popped the grain pattern
