Built this in Middle school years ago in Germany. Teacher was building one so I just went along. Pretty much built watever you wanted.
Didn’t know much at the time, but looking back, I see all the waste I created. The back room was filled with nothing but rough mahogany. tons of it. Remember I was a kid who didn’t know any better (blame the teacher he did it too) so don’t get too mad at me, but to get the size I needed….. I planed it down to size. Thickness didn’t matter.
I built two shelves but ended up only needing 1. So have and extra shelf laying on the bottom (3rd and 4th Picture). You can still see the jointer marks from the shelf in picture 3. Goes to show you how much I didn’t know. Don’t know what the back panel is. Amazing to look at past projects to see how you used to do things. I’m guessing its was some type of oil for finish, probably tung oil.
A little beat up but still holding up. It has traveled with me to many places around this Planet.
