Wiser-

This looks great!! I would love to get better at finishing, how did you get the finish so nice? What’s on it?

Clean design. What are the dimensions?
I see you live in NY. I think you may have been short changes on the wood. Oregon Myrtle is actually California Bay Laurel (Umbellularia Californica) but Oregon tourist businesses like to call it Myrtle and give you some story about Myrtle only growing in the Holy Land and Oregon. There is a Myrtle in the Holy Land but it is a different tree; the tree is small (almost a schrub) wood similar in appearance. California Bay Laurel can get huge, the leaves often used in place of Greek Bay leaves for cooking.
Anyway good Oregon Myrtle has much more color and character. It will darken quite a bit with age. Did you notice it quickly dulls your lathe tools. I think there as a lot os silica in it.
You can see other Oregon Myrtle wood in some projects I have posted, including a large buffet cabinet. It is beautiful wood but dents and marks easily.

medickep the finish is 3 coats of gloss wipe on polyurethane, rubbed between coats with 4/0 steel wool, and wiped clean.
les b tell that to craft supplies usa, because that is what they called it!

Nice combo project, Wiser! Was this a kit from Craft Supplies USA? I looked at their web site and didn’t see it. Thanks for sharing.
