Aquarium Stand

We desperately needed a new stand for our salt water turned fresh water aquarium so came up with this very simple solution. Designed on the fly in the shop to suit the aquarium it is constructed from 3/4” red oak plywood and solid red oak. The top is red oak picture framed around an inlay of leather pattern arborite/formica to protect it from the inevitable spills and condensation. There is an internal hidden frame that would allow this stand to hold several hundreds (probably several thousands) of pounds with no problems. Simple design that looks alright. This piece is finished on all four sides so that it can sit mid room if need be. Never did get around to making a matching hood and we have now taken the aquarium down (after moving away from the coast). The piece is relegated to the basement with an empty aquarium sitting on it ;-(
