These are larger, shallower bowls that can be used to serve crackers and other snacks. The first one is spalted oak and the last two are of popular. All are rescues from the firewood pile.

I think they are beautiful. I pay alot of money for wooden bowls, I love them!

Thanks, Janice. I didn’t realize how bad the finish was on the middle one until I was posting the photos. Went to the shop and took it back down to wood and refinished it. Guess it’s a birthday gift to my sis this Saturday.

You have some great projects also. I like the rustic Kleenex box. If you can do that, no need to buy bowls, just make them.

Your work is some of the best! I’m trying to do the same type bowls. Problem is in N Fla, good wood is not that available. But, with a brother who retired from the Forest Service, I may have a start on where to look. He does mostly woodcarving and painting (and counts his retirement money) :-)

Thanks, Pete. Most of the bowls I’ve down so far came out of the firewood pile. Would be glad to let you have some blanks, but getting them from N AL to N Fla might be rough. If you’re ever up this way, I’ll fix you up with some good blanks.
