I always feel honoured when asked to make a cremation box. I was asked via a friend of a friend if I could make two. The client and I decided on cherry, all the wood milled and air dried from the same tree. I added the walnut keys to help strengthen the mitered corners. We decided rather than having a lid and hinge hardware the removable bottom has four small brass screws so the contents can be added. Each box is 12 1/4” X 8” X 6 1/4” finished with one coat of blond shelac and wax.

These are very nice boxes. I really like the dark splines and floating top with bottom access. How thick are the sides?

Great looking boxes, love the corners

-- Norman - I never never make a mistake, I just change the design.

Hey Ron, thanks for the comment. The sides are 7/16” thick.
Ken.

Thanks for the reply Ken. I think I will use your design for a pet urn I am about to make.
