One of my daughters has a ShihTzu dog which tries to find a vantage point to look outside. My daughter ask me to build some kind of platform that he could jump up on and look out the window. Just a top with four legs she said! She gave me the window height and said there was no hurry.
I thought about it for awhile and decided a top with four legs would move to easy when he jumped up on it. So I made a cabinet with a recessed top for a pad which my wife special ordered. This material was left over from the cabinets I built in my workshop.
When the dog stops using it for whatever reason I told my daughter she could have a copper pan made for the top and put plants in it. A top with four legs doesn’t have storage and being woodworkers we know the importance of space.
As you can see the dog approves!
p.s. His name is Okie because they got him from Oklahoma!

original idea! i’d do it for my dog, but she’s a rot/lab mix (80lbs +) and would need one that would be much to large for the living room

What royal treatment! He’s like a little king on his throne now. It came out looking very nice, Spanky. As an animal, and especially dog lover, I’m glad to see some woodwork intended to better the lives of our 4-legged friends.
