I made this magic wand for my Mothers’ caregivers’ daughter who becomes 12 years old. My dilemma was what to give a 12 year old girl. What would make a good gift? Well I decided money is always a great crowd pleaser. So I made the wand from a plain stick. I formed a tenon about 1 inch from the end of stick and parted it off. Next I bored a 5/8” hole on the tenon side of the stick. This formed a pocket for the money. The tenon now fits the hole for a lid and the stick appears to be one piece. Now I placed a $100.00 bill with a short string attached. I have her make a wish that of course won’t come true. I then explain something must be wrong inside the wand. I have her remove the end cap to find out what the problem is. The string is now attached to the lid so the bill comes out when the lid is removed. Surprise surprise,a Happy Birthday!
