So here’s the finished project. At least with one coat of stain. I will add another coat then some outdoor oil. Check out the blog for progress photos. This was a fun project and I really enjoyed using the Mortise Pal (see review). Next time I will make some of the lines a little more thick and will use oak or some other hardwood suitable for outdoor use. Acknowledgements and thanks to Russell Jensen who designed the bench and published the plans in Fine Woodworking.

That’s a beautiful job on the bench. I’ve got that article from FWW marked and in my pile of “must build one day”. Nice to see such a great version of it.

Thanks for the compliments. Thanks also for all the good stuff I’ve learned from you. I’m thinking about painting the next one with a black lacquer. The Asian style usually looks really good in black. Red might also be nice.
