A neighbor cut down a dead choke cherry tree and gave me a few bits of what he hadn’t promised to his father for firewood (!!!!) After a good friend announced his engagement, I did a lot of headscratching then came up with a box filled with votive candles for the soon-to-be-bride and groom. It’s got mitered corners with zebrawood splines and a zebrawood ‘raised panel’ top.
I got a chance to push a bit with this project: resawing the lumber, creating the raised panel on the tablesaw, the mitered splines and cutting the box open after assembly.

Nice box! The splines are a very nice touch and the raised panel top gives it a lot of depth. Good work.

I like the Zebrawood splines. That is a nice touch ofclass.

I might just have to take a trip over to that wood pile and dig through it. I think they are going away this weekend—I won’t even have to go in the dark of night!!!
