So this pipe was a difficult one to say the least, especially when you have the cheap tools that I have.
Desert Ironwood is one of my favorite woods; it has a beautiful golden hue when the light hits it just right and of course is one of the densest woods in the world, which makes well suited for my own personal tobacco combustion chamber.
I started the stummel not really knowing where I was going to take this pipe. After some time, I decided to give it a raised shank and extended olive wood stem with an ironwood mouthpiece. And let me tell you, making the tenon freehand and getting it flush with the mortice face is not fun.
All in all, I am pleased with the results. On to the next one!
