I built this blanket box years ago for my wife when we were dating. She’s really good at painting wolves and I need one painted on a huge diamond tipped conctrete cutting blade for a guy at work, so I asked her what she would trade for the work and she said she needed a blanket box.

I got a bunch of surplus pine shelves from a library/office move our company was doing and milled them into this box. It got in the way after we married and combined households so it ended up in the shed and after a number of years out there the lid started to warp.

I dug it out one day, put the antique finish on it, straightened the top, and put it up for sale.

Wow, Phil, this is too spooky.

I’m sitting in my daughter’s family room where I opened this post. Right in front of me is an almost identical Pine’ Blanket Box. It looks the same in every detail. We think it’s quite old, so it has its own natural antique patina. She uses it to hold her flat screen TV.

Don, that’s funny. The wood for this box came from some library that had modular pine shelving, probably from the seventies, and when they went to a metal shelving system, I got the pine. It was similar to ikea type shelving. Who would have thought that it would come out looking that old. Thats cool.

Did your wife get the money, or was that your belated payment.

Great looking chest

She looked at me funny a couple of times when I started working on it, but she got over it. I just built her a new computer with a bunch of photo programs and she’s busy making calenders for sale. The thing is better than the one I use for my business, so I think we’re even.
