This is a key of G, pentatonic tuning, 3/4” bore about 15” long, and 21” overall. It is steamed Beech with a cedar bird, my trademark bird, a ‘campfire’. (Firefighter—Campfire—FIREsong—get it?;-) ) It has lambskin ties. Several coats of hand-rubbed lacquer for the finish. I made this one to keep for myself as 4H camp is coming up in about 2 weeks. I’m going to teach flute making, but we will use 3/4” PVC pipe for the kids’ flutes, not enough time for wood the first time out. Maybe next year I use wood for any student that makes a PVC model this year. This one has the best sound of any yet, very clear and smooth. The beech is a real dream to work with too.

I love these flutes – especially when they sit on the stand. It really makes it special.

Wow…that’s really nice! It’s tuned to G? Wow…I thought you get what you get with these. Nice!

Hey Spidey: There are two different methods, you can tune to the flute itself, “native tuning” or you can “concert tune” to a specific scale/note. I cut the length on this one to get a fundamental (all holes covered) of ‘G’. Thanks to all for looking and commenting.
