I carved this cute, little bear using a chainsaw and torch ONLY. No other tools were used. Sure, I could have gotten more detail using smaller tools, but I want to show how much can be accomplished on such a small scale using a chainsaw only.

I like to use Stihl chainsaws. To carve something of this size, I use my 170 or 180c with a 1/4” chain and sprocket.

There is a trick to being able to carve something this small using a chainsaw…one needs some sort of vice to keep the wood from moving while it’s being carved. I use a vise called a “Jawhorse”. It is a wonderful carver’s companion :)

This carving is made of Eastern White Pine, and is 9” tall and 6” wide.

This little carving is available in my store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoshCarteArt
