Wooden ringing toy for my daughter

I made this for my daughter when she was born. She is now almost 3 years old, so it’s just sitting there though.
Made with “Hinoki Cypress”, very famous tree in Japan. The ball moves inside, so you can hear the sound of wood when you shake it.
No nail, no painting.

Very nice toy. The wood looks like our maple. Did you make the ball also?? Thanks for sharing

Loucarb,
This is much softer than maple, just like cedar tree.
No, unfortunately I didn’t make the ball.

Why doesn’t she play with it?

TopamaxSurvivor,
Well, she is a bit old for this toy. Now she likes to play with a doll house, or playing house. But some day, my grandsons will play with this…

Being a grandpa is a better job than being a dad ;-))

TopamaxSurvivor,
Glad to hear that! But it will be at least another 20 years later. Mmm, maybe I will have a lot of wooden toys by then to give away.

I’m in the process of making some toys right now. I’ll get in gear and post ‘em when I get done. I have some searches on ebay for woodworking and antique toys just for ideas from the past.

Kindlingmaker,
Thank you. Sometimes it’s hard to think it only simple and safe, because I tend to think it too complex.
