So, I found this desk in an abandoned apartment where I work. The desk was in a few pieces, so I put it back together and proceeded to strip the god awful paint from it. That alone took 12 sheets of the heaviest sand paper I could find. The drawer’s were just as bad. I removed the old handle’s from the drawer’s. I ended up going with a Bombay Mahogany Stain (3 coats), and a Clear protective finish (3 coats), to bring it all together. Now I have the most beautiful desk I’ve ever owned.

My wife and I have stripped every door and most of the window sashes and woodwork in our house. We use everything from heat gun, chemical stripper, scrapers, and sandpaper to get through the paint. Until you have gone through it it is hard to appreciate how much effort it takes. Job well done!
