I built this for my sister-in-law for Christmas. Finally had a Christmas that I got to build/make/cast/machine all of the gifts I gave! Although I admit, this is not the most beautiful board, I only had a week worth of lunch breaks to work on it. I made a jig to drill 45 degree angled holes while the boards were clamped for dowels, allowing the dowels to tightly lock the pieces together. If split in half (top to bottom), the dowels would show a herringbone pattern. The dowels also have an ellipse appearance on the sides. Just wanted to share! I love this site!

Nice work. I like to see some pics of the finished piece.
